Introduction

This course is intended to train Cable Fault Locators to employ the latest technique & usage of highly sophisticated instruments in power cable fault location using the following techniques, methods and instruments:

Traveling wave technique
High energy Surge Voltage Generator with high & lower voltage range.
Latest state of the art “Pre-Location Instruments” which includes TDR, Impulse Current or Arc Reflection Method.
High performance “Acoustic Pin-Pointing Instrument” with digital propagation time-distance measurement gives quick & high accuracy in fault location.

Perform analysis of cable faults & interpret the test results.
Pre-locate cable faults using “Pulse-echo/TDR Method”, “Impulse Current Method” & “Arc Reflection Method”.
Perform “Pin-pointing” of cable fault using Acoustic Method or “Step Voltage Method”.
State the common methods & perform cable tracing & cable identification.
