SF6 Gas Management and Handling
Introduction
Sulfur hexafluoride(SF6) gas has been used in the power industry for its exceptional electrical insulation and arc quenching properties. However, SF6 must be managed and handled well because of it being a Greenhouse Gas(GHG) with a much higher global warming potential compared to CO2.
Malaysia has pledged to reduce its GHG emission intensity of Gross Domestic Product(GDP) by up to 45% by 2030 relative to 2005 levels. The objective of this course is to educate participants on the characteristics of SF6 gas, the standards for its usage as well as safe handling of SF6 gas and its equipment.
