Overview:
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge on underground distribution power cable up to 33kV system. Participants of this course will be given an insight of underground distribution cables theory and “hands-on demonstration”. During the course, participants will be introduced to the cable profile and characteristics. Hence, the important aspects of cable joints and termination are also discussed and highlighted in this course. As well, participants will be able to pinpoint the stress areas in joint and termination. Consequently, participant of this course can highlight the criteria that will make a good joint, besides what are the potential problems anticipated and mitigation action to prevent or minimize the failure. Principle of joints and terminations are deliberated in this course. Case study on post-mortem conducted and learning points shared in this course to help participants understand the real situations while handling the power cables. To enhance the learning process, 33kV cable normal and cross bonded joint are shown, as well as cable testing, sheath test and repair are which are also will be demonstrated in this course. Participants are highly encourage to participate in the “hands-on” session.
Objective:
Upon successful completion of this course, trainees will be able to:
Describe the principle technology of 33kV cable
Pinpoint the critical areas in joints and terminations
Correlate the critical areas and mode of cable failures
Perform cable testing
Manage the installation and supervision of cable related projects safely
Target Participant: • ELECTRICAL ENGINEER • ELECTRICAL EXECUTIVES • CONTRACTORS • ELECTRICAL TECHNICIANS
Duration: 3
