This model course aims to provide the training for TNB Safety Representatives with adequate knowledge understanding of acts and regulations governing safety and operations at work place and proficiency in Safety Excellence Management System (SEMS), This course consists covers on OSHA and the all elements of categories I, Categories II and categories III in Safety Excellence Management system.
This course also cover the responsibilities of a Safety Representative are to assist the proprietor and any Safety and Health Officers/Safety Coordinator in promoting the safety and health of persons employed.
Though no formal examination is prescribed, each trainee’s progress will be closely monitored throughout the course and theoretical competence will be assessed based on trainees being able to answer objective questionnaire as provided. Practical competence of trainee will be evaluated based on trainee being able to successfully demonstrate carrying out the task given to them.
On successfully completion of the course the trainees will receive a certificate of attendance and subsequently be appointed as Safety Representatives and met the standard of competence as specified in SEMS Data Sheets.
A trainee successfully completing this course will be able:
1. Can clearly understand the role and function as a Safety Reps.
2. To have adequate knowledge on relevant OSH&E legislations.
3. To identify hazard & risk at workplace base on SEMS element.
4. Can perform correct inspection based on the SEMS checklist provided.
5. Make a report on the identified hazard in the workplace.
