Overview:
<div justify;"="">Overhead lines are the most common type of electrical equipment found in power systems. In this course, attendees are introduced to main factors that influence the size of conductors, the electrical clearances, insulation and choice of supporting structures for lines up to 500kV.

The course is beneficial to all electrical engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of Medium Voltage and High Voltage Overhead Lines. New engineers are also encouraged to attend.

Objective:

• Select a conductor size for most economic operation.
• Select appropriate insulators and structure clearances for given system conditions.
• Estimate the probability of outages due to lightning and switching.
• Estimate the magnitude of the effect of RI and EMF from the line.
