Overview:
In larger electrical power transformer, for proper voltage regulation of transformer, on load tap changer is required. As there is no permission of switching off the transformer during tap changing. The tapping arrangement, is placed in separate divertor tank attached to electrical power transformer main tank. The divertor switches have contacts operating in rapid sequence with usually four separate make and break units.

This is a four days course whereby participants will be taught on how to do maintenance on OLTC V -type and M-type.  Every participant have to involve in practical sessions and they are monitored closely by the trainer.
Objective:
After attending this course:

• Participants will be able to identify the design of OLTC such as M or V type. They will also be able to do maintenance, including repairing and installation correctly base on procedures and TNB guide lines.

All high voltages and low voltages electrical equipment including the buildings and compounds in a main intake Substation need to be maintained in order to ensure that equipment are always  in good conditions and able to operate at all the times as required.

Maintenance can be divided into three categories, there are the primary equipment maintenance, Secondary equipment maintenance and Building and compound maintenance.

The function, need and necessity of maintenance on the primary equipment is included in the course.

This course covered the arrangement switchyards, substations layout and structure grounding in the PMU. Moreover, the numbering system of primary equipment, color coding and normal switching sequence also included
Electrical safety rule for personnel safety while working in the high voltage zone will be discussed.

A written test will be held at the end of the course for evaluation.
