The live method is to cater the very important and highly loaded substation where by it is very difficult to get outages for the substation even though for maintenance purposes.

Overview:
Hot stick (ground potential) work when the lineman is at ground potential in the tower or standing on a non-insulated platform or ladder and performing work with tools fixed at the end of insulated hand held sticks maintaining a specified working distance fixed by line voltage.

Barehand (line potential) work when the lineman is in direct contact with the energized component. The lineman shall wear at all-time special conductive cloths and shall respect working distance either from the line or from the ground potential.

Overview:
132kV power system protection & control practical training module 1 (exec) course is for protection engineers background.  Theory will be covered on the first day. For the transformer differential, participant will be guided to determine the HV and LV current angle and draw the fault current distribution in the T’xmer differential protection circuit for YNd1 T’xmer Vector Group, to carry out secondary stability test on the Transformer Bias Differential protection scheme as to ensure correct relay setting and configuration applied to the relay and also they will be guided to develop the transformer bias differential characteristic using OMICRON *.rio format that will be used further during secondary test with OMICRON CMC256 / 346 test equipment.

For line differential, the participant will be guided how to do protection & communication testing. As for busbar protection, they will be guided to carry out secondary operation test on the Busbar protection scheme as to ensure correct relay setting and configuration applied to the relay.
Objective:

After attending this course the participants shall be able to:

The Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514), and Regulations 1996, The Electricity Supply Act, 1990 (Act 447) and Electricity Regulations 1994, with any subsequent amendment shall constitute certain legal provisions which MUST be complied with. All relevant technical personnel are expected to make themselves familiar with the provisions as are related to the particular work.

TNB has made the following safety rules for the protection of the Employees to govern the working and control of electricity supply throughout TNB's installations and to ensure the safety of all who may work on TNB's installations.

It is the duty of all Persons who may be concerned with the operation of and work on, the system and apparatus to make themselves thoroughly conversant with the Statutory Requirements (Electricity Act and OSHA) and Electrical Safety Rules governing any work they may have to undertake on the system and apparatus.
Objective:

After attending this training program, participants will be able to:

  • Familiarise with the Electrical safety Rule for transmission
  • Apply the safety rules in a daily operation
  • Resolve any problems that may be experienced in implementing the Safety Rules
  • Practice the "electrical clearance" and the terms associated with it
  • Practice the safety requirements for ma intake substation, overhead lines and underground cables
  • Familiarise with the Electricity Act  and Regulation
  • Familiarise with the OSHA

Once the piles are installed, they are expected to function throughout their lifetime. During the lifetime of the building/structure, the foundation is rarely inspected for its continued structural integrity and stability. Supervision of piling works for building / structure foundation is therefore essential and critical in ensuring the quality of construction works and safety of building structures.
