Overview:
This course provides a comprehensive knowledge about the generator maintenance and testing in power plant and industry environment. The targeted audience of this course are power plant electrical engineers, facility engineers, technical supervisors, technicians and electrical chargeman whose jobs involve in the maintenance of generator.

This course covers the competency requirements to recognize, diagnose and remedy in a short time in accordance to manufacturer's specifications. The training methodology is theory and practical, where the participants will be actively involved in the class activities. At the end of the course, participants will be able to perform generator maintenance and testing in accordance with manufacturer’s specification.
Objective:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify generator components and its constructions
  • Locate and rectify generator problems
  • Perform various tests on the  generator

This course will provide an overview of the high voltage excitation system applications, primarily focusing on the firing angle of excitation systems. This course covers core concepts High Voltage generator excitation systems, including: excitation system components and automatic voltage regulator. The training methodology is theory and group discussion, where the participants will be actively involved in the class activities. Course participants will be able to analyze case studies and best maintenance practices specifically for large power station generators.
Objective:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the working principle of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR)
  • Identify and locate common generator excitation problems
