Overview:
This course will provide an overview of the high voltage excitation system applications, primarily focusing on the firing angle of excitation systems. This course covers core concepts necessary to work with all High Voltage generator excitation systems, including: excitation system components and automatic voltage regulator. The training methodology is theory and group discussion, where the participants will be actively involved in the class activities. Course participants will be able to analyze case studies and best maintenance practices specifically for large power station generators.
Objective:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Explain the basic working principle of generator and excitation system
• Explain the working principle of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR)
• Identify and locate common generator excitation problems

In this training program, participant will learn about HVDC fundamentals including HVDC general application, Power Electronic, Converter operation and HVDC Control. Participant will be introduced to Thyristor Valve and Associated Equipment, AC/DC Filter and Pole Control & DC Protection.

There will be an explanation on Station Control and Interstation Communication. Details HVDC OPERATION will be discussed in this program with site visit to HVDC station.

Overview:

This course offers for participants to be able to define the event of heat rate and efficiency of the power plant. Its consists of overview of heat rate in power plant; factor in heat rate calculation; heat rate cost deviation; effect of heat rate to efficiency; effect of heat rate to Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Participant will be taken through the vast experience of this course. The emphasis is on participants continuing participation in ensuring the ultimate success of the courses.


Objective:

• Define the heat rate and its formula
• Explain the relationship between heat rate and fuel energy
• Calculate correctly the heat rate deviation if the heat rate increase
• Define efficiency and explain it formula
• Explain the relationship between heat rate and efficiency
• Calculate correctly the fuel payment associated with the heat rate in the SLA
• Identify the primary controllable-contributors to off design heat rate
